General Description
California almonds are an oil seed, pale-fleshed, crisp and smooth oval covered nut with a brown skin. California almonds are pasteurized.
History
California almonds originally come from Central Asia and are known to Romans as the “Greek nut”, as it was widely used in Europe during the Middle Ages for preparing soups as well as a variety of sweet dishes. However, come the 19th century, the almond tree was located in the United States, primarily in California.
