Organic Baby Figs
General description
Organic baby figs are approximately 40% smaller than a regular fig but their average sugar content and flavor is much bigger than that of the full-size variety. Baby figs are round and oval, with a pear-shape that measures about 4 cm in diameter. The skin is very thin and the flesh is pink or dark red.
Origin
The fig is said to be the oldest fruit domesticated by man! There are several hundred varieties of figs in the world, some of which can be grown in pots right here in North America. The varieties of baby figs grown in Persian mountains do not undergo any pesticide treatment or even chemical handling by humans. They grow freely and are only picked when perfectly ripe.

Figs are extremely high in fiber – with just one serving of ¼ cup (4 figs for adults), you will receive 10% of your daily recommended intake of fiber. A diet that is high in fiber has been associated with a reduced risk of colon cancer and has been said to normalize blood sugar and cholesterol levels. High fiber intake is also known to helping to maintain proper bowel function. Figs are also high in other nutrients including, potassium, calcium and iron.
